Sebastien Toutant's start in snowboarding was somewhat of an accident. At nine years old, he broke his skis while doing freestyle tricks, and his parents refused to buy him a new pair. So Toutant, who had been skiing for five years at that point, had no choice but to strap in to his brother's old snowboard. By the second day, he says he was starting to get the hang of it, and so he decided to stick with snowboarding.

Toutant, more commonly known as "Seb Toots," was the first of Canada's star trio to break onto the slopestyle contest scene (Mark McMorris and Max Parrot soon followed). He won gold in his X Games debut in 2011, then followed it up with a Dew Tour championship and a Burton U.S. Open victory the following season.

Toutant has since remained a podium contender in both slopestyle and big air. He placed 9th in slopestyle at the 2014 Olympics.
