Geisenberger is the 2014 Olympic women’s luge champion. She beat fellow German Tatjana Huefner, the 2010 Olympic champion, by 1.139 seconds, the second-largest margin of victory in Olympic history. Geisenberger also won a gold medal in the inaugural team relay event in Sochi. She has won more career World Cup races than any other woman.

Geisenberger was a promising skier until she decided to focus on luge. She initially thought luge was “boring.”


She made her Olympic debut in 2010 and earned the bronze medal in women’s singles.


No other woman owns more world championship luge medals than Geisenberger.
