Shiffrin has turned heads since making her World Cup debut at 15. At 17, she became the youngest U.S. woman to win an Alpine world championship. At 18, she became the youngest Olympic slalom gold medalist. Now 22, she is hoping to become the first skier of either gender to repeat as Olympic slalom champion.

Since Sochi, Shiffrin has expanded her skillset beyond the technical disciplines, which she considers “my babies,” to include the speed disciplines. She is the reigning World Cup overall champion, joining Tamara McKinney and Lindsey Vonn as the only U.S. women to win the biggest annual prize in ski racing.
