Max Whitlock took home two bronze medals from the London Olympics, first as a member of the British gymnastics team and then as an individual in the pommel horse final. His profile rose even higher in 2014, when he won the all-around silver behind Kohei Uchimura at the world championships and the pommel horse title at the European championships. The next year, however, Whitlock struggled in competition and was diagnosed with glandular fever, also known as mono. He proved to be fully recovered at the 2015 Worlds, finishing in the top five in the all-around and winning three medals: gold on the pommel horse, silver on floor exercise and silver in the team competition. Whitlock has won the all-around British title at the 2013, 2014 and 2016 championships. In 2016 he also won gold medals on floor, pommel horse and high bar at the British championships.
