U.S. curler Matt Hamilton joined the rink of John Shuster, a three-time Olympian and 2006 bronze medalist, the season after the 2014 Sochi Olympics. He plays the second position. Along with teammates Tyler George, John Landsteiner and alternate Joe Polo, Hamilton's team has captured two national titles (2015 and 2017) and a bronze medal at the 2016 World Men’s Curling Championships. At the 2017 Worlds, the U.S. men finished fourth after losing the bronze-medal match 7-5 to Switzerland. Hamilton also competed at the 2017 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships with his sister, Becca Hamilton. They finished tenth, successfully securing a spot for the U.S. in mixed doubles curling at the 2018 Winter Olympics. This curling discipline, which features teams of one man and one woman, will be added to the Olympic program for the first time in PyeongChang.
