  • Other information
In June 2016 he committed to play college ice hockey at Boston University in Chestnut Hill, MA, United States of America, from the start of the 2017/18 season. In July 2017 his application was rejected after he failed to meet the university's admission requirements due to an issue with his high school course credits. Later the same month he signed for Jokerit in the Kontinental Hockey League [KHL]. "I didn't have good enough marks. I should have finished high school in two years instead of three, and it's quite hard, considering how busy I am with hockey. I thought I could study during the summer, but then I had camps and pre-draft tests. When I missed out on the chance to play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA], I was advised to listen to Jokerit. I was intrigued right away." (, 26 Aug 2017;, 23 Aug 2017;, 05 Jul 2017)

In August 2017, at age 18 years and 123 days, he scored three goals on his debut for Jokerit in the Kontinental Hockey League [KHL] and became the youngest player to score a hat-trick in the league. "It's great, this league has a lot of classy players. It's nice to have set the record. I came to Jokerit to score goals and I'm glad that it started out well." (, 04 Oct 2017, 26 Aug 2017)

In the 2017 NHL Entry Draft he was selected by the Nashville Predators in the first round, 30th pick overall. (, 05 Jul 2017;, 05 Jul 2017)
