Biography

Germany’s Carina Vogt won the inaugural women’s ski jumping gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Growing up, she was inspired to try ski jumping after she and her older brother Christian saw the sport on television. Before Sochi, she was fifth individually at the 2013 World Championships. Since winning her gold in Sochi, she’s won team and individual gold medals at both the 2015 and 2017 World Championships. She is the first woman to successfully defend her world title.
