At 10 years old, Ashley Nee began her kayak career at Valley Mill Camp in Germantown, Md. A veteran U.S. national slalom team member, Nee missed the 2008 Beijing Games due to a shoulder injury and a technical tiebreak left her watching the 2012 London Games from home. Nee, currently training with national team coach, Silvan Poberaj, won bronze in the women’s kayak single (K1) at the 2015 Pan American Games and finished first in the K1 at the 2015 U.S. National Team Trials. Nee has officially qualified for Olympic selection and will join Team USA in Rio, pending International Canoe Federation approval.
